Ecology

Alpheus parvirostris was found in many different coral structures on Heron Island, suggesting that they have a broad ecological habitat.  They were particularly found in burrows made by other marine invertebrates throughout the calcium carbonate coral plates.  They likely feed on small invertebrate and fish the pass through the carbonate structures.
